The Price Ratio rule compares two closes as A ÷ B (TradingView’s Ratio idea). Market A defaults to your automation’s primary symbol; Market B is an observe-only reference (symbolB). When the ratio (or its rolling z-score) meets your compare condition, it fires a configured buy or sell.
Use it when relative strength between two markets matters—for example USDBRLUSDT versus EWZUSDT—without placing on both books.
When to use it
- Enter when the primary symbol is strong (or weak) versus a reference
- Confirm breakouts with relative outperformance vs a related market
- As a filter: allow a pending signal only when the ratio agrees with the pending side
This is different from Pairs Spread with metric price ratio (basis) (A÷B − 1), which is built for multi-leg placement. Price Ratio keeps a single trade book and only observes B.
What you’ll set in the app
Add Price ratio under entry, exit, increase, decrease, or reversal—or under filters for the same sections.
- Market A — symbol / exchange / timeframe (empty = strategy primary)
- Market B — second market (symbol required)
- Mode — Raw (A÷B) (last ratio) or Z-score of ratio (rolling z of A÷B)
- Window (bars) — used when mode is z-score (default 20)
- Compare —
ratio >,<,≥,≤, or≈ - Threshold — raw A÷B (e.g.
0.15or1.0near parity) or a z threshold such as2 - Side when true — buy or sell when the condition holds
Until Market B is set or (in z-score mode) enough history exists, the rule does not fire.
Tips
- Raw mode needs only the latest closes of A and B; pick a threshold near the ratio level you see on a chart.
- Z-score mode answers “is today’s ratio unusual vs its recent window?” rather than an absolute level.
- As a filter, set side to match the signals you want to allow.
Example
Entry rules: Price ratio, Market A = strategy USDBRLUSDT, Market B = EWZUSDT, mode Raw (A÷B), ratio > 0.15, side buy. Fires when USDBRL ÷ EWZ rises above 0.15 (similar to a TradingView Ratio breakout).
Entry filters: Same rule with side buy so another long signal only passes while the ratio stays elevated.
