BB Squeeze Breakout combines a Bollinger Band width squeeze with a band breakout. After band width has recently been unusually tight (at or below your squeeze percentile of the lookback), it buys when close breaks above the upper band and sells when close breaks below the lower band.
It is the fused alternative to stacking a Volatility regime filter (bbWidth + below) with a separate Breakout or Bollinger Bands rule.
Когда использовать
- Trade expansion after compression (classic “squeeze then go”)
- Prefer one named rule over composing width + breakout yourself
- As a filter: only allow pending buys/sells that match the breakout side after a squeeze
Что настроить в приложении
- Period / Deviation — Bollinger length and σ (defaults 20 / 2)
- Squeeze lookback — prior bars used to judge width extremes (default 100)
- Squeeze percentile — a recent bar counts as squeezed when its width is at or below this percentile (default 20)
- Recent bars — how many prior bars (excluding the current bar) can satisfy the squeeze (default 5)
- Break side — up, down, or both
Without enough history, or without a recent squeeze, the rule does not fire—even if price touches a band.
Советы
- Lower squeeze percentiles mean rarer, tighter squeezes.
- Invert fades the same breakouts (sell the upside break, buy the downside break).
- Pair with volume or session filters if you only want liquid expansions.
